ImmigrationSelfie - CEAC Form Fill (Chrome extension), published by ImmigrationSelfie. This policy explains what the extension handles, what it sends back, and what it never does.
1. What This Extension Does
ImmigrationSelfie - CEAC Form Fill is a tool for immigration attorneys and their staff who use ImmigrationSelfie. It enters DS-260 and DS-160 answers that an attorney has already reviewed and approved into the matching fields of the applicant's form on the U.S. Department of State's CEAC website (ceac.state.gov), one page at a time, under the attorney's supervision.
The extension requires an ImmigrationSelfie account and performs no function without one.
2. Information the Extension Handles
Your ImmigrationSelfie Sign-In
When you sign in from the extension's side panel, your username and password are sent over an encrypted connection to the ImmigrationSelfie service to verify your identity. The password is never stored by the extension. Your username is remembered on your device so you do not have to retype it.
Session Tokens
After sign-in, the extension stores a sign-in token and, while a form is being filled, a short-lived session token limited to one applicant's form. They are kept in the browser's local extension storage and removed when you sign out or the session ends, expires or is revoked.
Approved Application Answers
For the applicant you choose, the extension receives the approved answers (which can include names, dates of birth, passport details, addresses and other information on the DS-260 or DS-160) from the ImmigrationSelfie service. They are held in memory only while they are being entered into the form, and are not written to disk.
The CEAC Page
On ceac.state.gov only, the extension reads the current page's address, its form fields and the CEAC Application ID, to confirm the right page is open before entering anything and to record which application was filled.
Settings
Display preferences such as theme and the last form type chosen, stored on your device.
3. What Is Sent Back to ImmigrationSelfie
After each page, the extension reports which fields were filled, skipped or failed, the CEAC Application ID, and a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of each value entered. The hash lets the firm later confirm that what reached the form matches what was approved. The answers themselves are not sent back. This record forms the audit trail for the session.
4. What the Extension Does Not Do
- It never asks for, stores or transmits your CEAC username, password or security answers. You sign in to CEAC yourself.
- It never clicks Sign, Submit, Certify or any equivalent control. The form is reviewed and submitted by a person.
- It does not read your browsing history, and it does not read or run on any website other than ceac.state.gov and the ImmigrationSelfie service.
- It does not track clicks, keystrokes or other activity outside the form it is filling.
- It contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking code, and does not load code from outside the extension package.
6. Retention
The extension keeps nothing after a session ends other than your remembered username, your display settings, and your sign-in token until you sign out. Session records and the audit trail described above are kept by the ImmigrationSelfie service under the firm's records-retention policy.
7. Security
All communication between the extension and the ImmigrationSelfie service uses HTTPS. Access tokens are short-lived and limited to the functions this extension needs.
8. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
